Canning City FC Achieves 1 Star Club Changer Status
Canning City Football Club is proud to announce that we have officially achieved 1 Star Club Changer status through Football Australia’s Club Changer program.
This is a significant achievement for our club and an important step forward as we continue building a stronger, more inclusive and sustainable future for football at Canning City.
What is the Club Changer program?
Club Changer is Football Australia’s national club development program, supported by the Australian Sports Commission.
The program helps grassroots football clubs strengthen their operations, improve the experience they provide to players and volunteers, and create environments in which people from across the community feel welcome and supported.
Achieving 1 Star status required Canning City FC to complete Football Australia’s Women and Girls in Football module and develop a practical action plan focused on the continued growth of female football at our club.
A commitment to women and girls in football
This recognition reflects the work already underway to create more opportunities for girls and women to play, coach, volunteer and participate in football at Canning City FC.
Our female football program has grown considerably, but this achievement is about more than player numbers. It is about establishing the right environment, pathways and support systems to help girls and women remain involved in the game for many years to come.
Our action plan includes a continued focus on:
- Growing participation among girls and women
- Providing clear pathways from junior girls’ football into the senior women’s game
- Recruiting and supporting more female coaches and assistant coaches
- Creating additional development opportunities for players and goalkeepers
- Strengthening the visibility and representation of female football throughout the club
- Building a safe, welcoming and positive club environment
Recognition of the club’s progress
Receiving 1 Star Club Changer status is an official acknowledgement of Canning City FC’s commitment to developing women’s and girls’ football.
It also gives the club access to additional development resources, education opportunities, workshops and funding opportunities that can help us deliver the actions identified in our plan.
This achievement would not have been possible without the support of our committee, coaches, team managers, volunteers, players, parents, sponsors and wider club community.
Thank you to everyone who has contributed to the growth of female football at Canning City FC. Every training session, match, conversation and volunteer contribution has helped move the program forward.
This is only the beginning
While we are proud to have earned our first Club Changer star, we see it as the beginning of the next stage in our development.
Our goal is to continue expanding our girls’ and women’s teams, recruit more female coaches and volunteers, strengthen the pathway into senior football, and provide an environment where every player feels valued and supported.
The first star represents the progress we have made. The work ahead will determine how far we can go.
