JUNIORS - AGES 6 TO 18

Canning City is one of the largest Junior Clubs in the Western Australia.

  • Groups compete in leagues against clubs all over the metropolitan area.
  • Games are played on Sundays, usually between 8.30am and 1pm.
  • Our home and training ground is Willetton Reserve

Ages 6 and 7

  • 4 players to a side
  • no goal keeper
  • no offside
  • no corner kicks
  • no throw ins
  • 20 minutes halves, 5 minute half time break
  • 1/8 size pitch (8 pitches fit a full size pitch)
  • Size 3 ball

Ages 8 and 9

  • 7 players to a side including the goal keeper
  • goal keeper cannot drop kick the ball, it must be thrown or played off the ground
  • no offside
  • corner kicks
  • throw ins
  • 20 minutes halves, 5 minute half time break
  • 1/4 size pitch (4 pitches fit a full size pitch)
  • Size 3 ball

Ages 10, 11 and 12

  • 9 players to a side including the goal keeper
  • goal keeper cannot drop kick the ball, it must be thrown or played off the ground
  • no offside
  • corner kicks
  • throw ins
  • 25 minutes halves, 5 minute half time break
  • 1/2 size pitch (8 pitches fit a full size pitch)
  • Size 4 ball

Ages are based the child’s birthday in the calendar year of the season, so if the child turns 10 during the year (even if the birthday is after the season finishes) they would play in the 10 age group

There is no 17s age group, 17 and 18 year olds play together

Game duration

  • 12s: 25 minute halves, 5 minutes half time break
  • 13 and 14s: 30 minute halves, 5 minutes half time break
  • 15s: 35 minute halves, 5 minutes half time break
  • 16 and 18s: 40 minute halves, 5 minutes half time break

Training

  • Training is generally 90 minutes twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays

Canning City Football Club Junior Coaches.

We are proud of the fact that all of our voluntary coaches have certificates for coaching soccer. Many of them have Level I and even Level II certificates and a few have special certificates for coaching Goal Keeping.
