Girls’ Football at Canning City FC
Come for the Football. Stay for the Team.
Football is more enjoyable when you feel supported, included and part of a team.
Canning City FC welcomes girls aged 12 to 16 who want to play football, improve their skills and make new friends. Whether you are an experienced player looking for a new team, returning to soccer after time away or preparing to play club football for the first time, there is a place for you in our growing girls’ football program.
You do not need to be an elite player to join us. We are looking for girls who enjoy football, want to improve and are prepared to support their teammates.
A Team for Every Kind of Player
Some players join Canning City with several years of experience. Others have only played football at school, with friends or in the backyard. Everyone starts somewhere, and new players are always welcome.
Our girls compete in the Football West Junior Community League, commonly known as the JCL. These community-based competitions give players the opportunity to enjoy competitive football, develop their skills and play against teams at an appropriate level.
- Ball control and passing
- Positioning and understanding of the game
- Fitness and movement
- Communication and teamwork
- Confidence on and off the field
Looking for a New Team?
Changing clubs can feel like a big decision for both players and parents. You may be looking for a fresh start, more playing opportunities, a different team environment or simply somewhere you feel more comfortable.
At Canning City FC, we make every effort to help new players settle in, meet their teammates and feel part of the group. Players joining from another club can continue developing in a friendly environment where improvement matters, but enjoyment and belonging are equally important.
You are welcome to register your interest and speak with our Female Football Coordinator before deciding whether Canning City is the right club for you.

Never Played Club Football Before?
That’s absolutely fine.
You do not need previous club experience to register your interest. Our coaches understand that players develop at different rates, and we aim to create an environment where girls can learn without being afraid of making mistakes.
If you love football, want to become more active or would simply like to try something new, we would be pleased to welcome you.Which Age Group Will I Play In?
| Year of Birth | Likely 2027 Age Group |

A Growing Girls’ Football Program
Canning City FC is committed to building a welcoming and sustainable football program for girls and women.
Our program continues to grow, with new and returning players helping us form more teams and create better opportunities for girls across the junior age groups. We want every player to feel that Canning City is her club, somewhere she can develop, form friendships and continue playing for many years.
Players train in a positive team environment and compete against other Football West clubs during the winter season. The emphasis is on participation, improvement, teamwork and enjoying the game.
We want to create teams in which girls encourage one another, celebrate their progress and remain involved in football throughout their teenage years and beyond.
A Pathway into Senior Women’s Football
Girls should not have to leave their club simply because they are getting older.
Our junior girls’ program provides a pathway towards the Canning City FC women’s team, giving players the opportunity to continue into senior football when they are ready. This connection between our junior and senior teams helps younger players see what their future at the club could look like.
Not every player wants to play at the highest level, and that is okay. Our goal is to help girls remain involved in football, whether they want to compete, improve, stay active, play alongside their friends or eventually progress into senior women’s football.
What Players and Parents Can Expect
At Canning City FC, we aim to provide:
- A welcoming environment for new and returning players
- Teams competing at an appropriate community level
- Coaches focused on development, enjoyment and teamwork
- Opportunities for players to improve at their own pace
- Support for girls returning after time away from football
- A positive introduction for players with no club experience
- A pathway from junior girls’ football into the women’s team
- A community club where players and families can feel involved
- Training and match-day experiences that encourage girls to remain in the game
Register Your Interest for 2027
Although the winter season has finished, now is the ideal time to register your interest in playing for Canning City FC in 2027.
Registering your interest does not commit you to joining. It helps us understand how many players are interested in each age group and allows us to keep families informed about team formation, pre-season activities, training sessions and registration dates.
Whether you are returning to Canning City, moving from another club, coming back after a break or preparing for your first season, we would love to hear from you.

Our Program Partners
Our program partners share our commitment to supporting girls in football. Their generous contributions enable us to provide high-quality kits, equipment and development opportunities, while fostering an inclusive environment in which every player can develop her skills, build confidence and enjoy the game.
We extend our sincere appreciation to the businesses that support our players and contribute to the future of women’s football at Canning City FC. We encourage our players, families and wider club community to support these valued partners by choosing their products and services whenever possible.
